As part of World Diabetes Day, it is important to remember the importance of balance.

This year, World Diabetes Day highlights 100 years since the discovery of insulin.

Insulin is a protein hormone secreted in the pancreas (by the β cells of the islets of Langerhans.. hence insula which means island in Latin)

In a diabetic there is a deficit in its production or even a total absence (type 1 diabetes)

Insulin is used to regulate glucose in the blood and its absence leads to hyperglycemia.

A poor diet, lack of activity but also stress can be factors leading to this deficit.
